The San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants meet in an NL West division matchup in MLB action from Oracle Park on Monday night.

The San Diego Padres will look to build on their series win, taking 3 of 4 from the set after a 10-5 win over Arizona last time out. Jurickson Profar had a grand slam while Jorge Alfaro had a solo home run. Manny Machado had a double and an RBI while Austin Nola had two hits with an RBI and Jake Cronenworth had an RBI of his own. Ha-Seong Kim had a triple while Trent Grisham and Luke Voit each had a base hit as well to finish off the offense for the Padres in the win. Nick Martinez will get the start here and will be making his first major league start since 2017 here.

The San Francisco Giants will look to build on their series win over the Marlins, taking Sunday’s series finale by a final score of 3-2. Mauricio Dubon had a double and an RBI while Wilmer Flores and Luke Williams each had an RBI as well in the win. Darin Ruf added a double, while Heliot Ramos had two hits and Brandon Crawford added a hit as well as the Giants had just six hits as a team in the win. Anthony DeSclafani gave up two rusn on eight hits while striking out five over eight innings of work, not factoring In the decision. Jarlin Garcia got the win after two innings of relief while Dominic Leone closed the 9th with a pair of strikeouts for the save. Alex Wood will start here and was 10-4 with a 3.83 ERA last season.

I get the case to be made for the Padres and the plus money, but it should be taken with a grain of salt as the Arizona Diamondbacks don’t look like they’re going to be much home to write home about. Also, the Padres are trotting out Nick Martinez, who hasn’t started in the majors since 2017 and while he had recent success in Japan, the talent sometimes takes a while to translate if at all. The Giants have been solid against Miami and Alex Wood is a solid pitcher in his own right. Give me the Giants and the reasonable price at home here.
